GALAXY Note 9: ROOT and TWRP recovery installation





If you have a SAMSUNG Galaxy Note 9 and you want to flash a custom ROM or root your mobile to uninstall preinstalled applications by default, here is an extremely simple tutorial that will help you root and install TWRP recovery on your phablette.

We will divide this operation into a second part, we will use the recovery mode (TWRP recovery) to flash the ZIP file of Magisk, activate the ROOT on our GALAXY Note 9.

Note that this installation increases the KNOX counter, so you can not use the majority of applications using KNOX such as: Samsung Pay, Samsung Health, Samsung Pass, etc.

Step 1: Install the TWRP on its GALAXY Note 9

Note:

This guide that contains the root package and instructions only works with the Galaxy Note 9 N960F / N960FD / N960N / N960X. Check the model number of your phone if it is Galaxy Note 9 and then continue, otherwise not.

Pre requirements:

It is recommended to make a proper backup of your contacts, messages, photos, videos and other valuable data on your phone.
The battery level of your phone should be at least up to 70% to avoid unexpected shutdowns during rooting.
Enable USB debugging on your phone by navigating to Settings> Developer options.
Download and install Samsung USB drivers on your PC.

Steps to root and install TWRP Recovery on Galaxy Note 9:


  • 1: - First, download the TWRP package, the Odin tool (Odin v3.10.7) and the SuperSU files (SuperSU-v2.82-201705271822.zip) on the desktop of your PC for Galaxy Note 9.

  • 2: - Copy / paste the SuperSU file into the internal storage of your device.

  • 3: - Extract the TWRP file to obtain the file with the extension .tar and the Odin flashing tool also to obtain the file Odin3_v3.10.7.exe.

  • 4: - Turn off the Galaxy Note 9 to start in download mode.

  • 5: - Turn on the device while holding down the Volume Up + Start + Power buttons at the same time. Once a warning screen with a yellow triangle appears, press the Volume Up button to enter the Download Mode.

  • 6: - Run Odin as administrator on the PC.

  • 7: - Connect the phone using its USB data cable with the PC.

  • 8: - Once the Galaxy Note 9 has successfully connected to the PC, the ID: the COM port will turn blue in Odin, and you will see the message "Added!".

  • 9: - Click on the AP button in Odin and look for the firmware file you have already extracted. Select it

  • 10: - Make sure that the Auto Restart and F. Restart time options are checked, and the Re-Partition option is not checked.

  • 11: - Begin the installation of TWRP by clicking on the Start button in Odin. This process can take a few minutes.

  • 12: - ONE STEP! The message will be displayed in Odin after TWRP has been successfully installed and the device restarts.

  • 13: - Disconnect the device and turn it off to start in TWRP recovery mode.

  • 14: - Turn on the phone by pressing and holding the Volume Up + Start + Power buttons to start TWRP recovery.

  • 15: - Touch the Install button on TWRP and select –SuperSU-v2.46.zip.

  • 16: - After the installation is completed successfully, restart the system.


Fact! You have successfully installed TWRP Recovery and rooted your Galaxy Note 9 through Odin.
